Why Maple Sugar is a Preferred Ingredient

Containing antioxidants, minerals, and plant compounds, maple sugar is one of the healthiest sweeteners available. It’s a clean label ingredient that adds a complexity of flavor to every recipe. And because it’s a dry ingredient, there is a minimal amount of recipe reformulation needed.

  • Packed with antioxidants, minerals, and bioactive plant compounds
  • Dissolves easily and has a consistent granulation size
  • Passes through a USS 40 screen (420 micron), less that 10% sitting on #40 screen
  • Density: maple sugar powder, 36-40 lbs. per cubic foot

How Bulk Maple Sugar is Made

We’ve been in the maple business for eight generations, and we’ve spent years refining our process.

We begin by selecting a full-flavored, dark-colored, 100% pure natural or organic maple syrup that meets our strict specifications. The maple syrup is pumped into a pressurized vessel, cooked, and stirred until the water in the maple syrup has evaporated. To ensure product purity, we never use chemicals or flow agents in our process. After the water has evaporated, pieces of maple crystals remain. We grind the crystals into smaller pieces to get a consistent product.

There’s a lot of work involved in making our maple sugar, but when we taste it, we know it’s worth every minute. If high-quality maple sugar with a flavor profile you can count on is important to you, choose Bascom Maple Farms as your maple source.

Organic Maple Sugar

From our pure organic maple syrup, comes Bascom Maple Farms organic maple sugar. Certified organic by Quality Assurance International (QAI) and carrying the USDA organic seal, our organic maple sugar is available year-round in a variety of packaging.

This ensures that when you choose our organic maple sugar, it will be free of any pesticides and chemicals.

The Difference Between Pure & Organic

Both our pure maple sugar and organic maple sugar are made the same way. We evaporate the water out of our maple syrup and grind the remaining crystals into granules and powder. We never use chemicals or flow agents in our process. Both our pure maple sugar and organic maple sugar are roughly 95% sucrose.

The difference lies in the type of maple syrup chosen to make the maple sugar. Organic maple sugar is made from only 100% certified organic maple syrup, while pure maple sugar is made from pure maple syrup.

And the difference between pure and organic syrup? It comes down to the certification process our organic maple farmers go through in order to assure their maple syrup is certified organic.

Granulation and Consistency, for the Best Results

Our proprietary manufacturing process guarantees that our maple sugar maintains its consistent quality batch after batch, year after year. By maintaining a consistent low moisture content, sweetness, and pH, our maple sugars have a longer shelf life and superior flavor when compared with many of our competitors’ products.

Bascom Maple Farms bulk maple sugar is a fine grain maple sugar. We’ve developed our maple sugar to work with most formulations and products.

If you need a sweetener that dissolves easily and has a consistent granulation size that mixes uniformly into your product, maple sugar is for you. Maple sugar works equally well with both dry and liquid formulations. It’s a great way to incorporate maple into your product without having to adjust your liquids.
